A 30-year-old man, identified as Akash Kothari, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in the black market sale of tickets for the World Cup semi-final match between India and New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on November 15, according to the police.
According to circulated Whatsapp messages, the tickets were reportedly being sold at prices ranging from ₹27,000 to ₹2.5 lakh. The police disclosed that Kothari was selling the tickets at five times the original price. The investigation revealed incriminating messages and documents against him.
The semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand is scheduled to occur on November 15 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The tournament’s final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
