Govt to Restore Nov-Dec Academic Session, Know Details Here

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has reached a consensus to restore the academic session to November-December starting next year, according to Education Minister Sakina Itoo. Although this change will not be implemented this year, it is set to take effect in the upcoming academic year, with all stakeholders on board.

In 2022, the state had introduced a Uniform Academic Calendar for higher education and schools. However, the decision to revert to the earlier November-December session comes after continuous requests from stakeholders. The Minister mentioned that infrastructure and staffing issues in the School Education Department (SED) will need to be addressed before the change can be implemented.

During a review meeting of the School Education Department, Sakina Itoo emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to improve educational outcomes and ensure quality education in line with modern scientific and digital demands. She also instructed the Principal Secretary of the School Education Department to identify and fill vacant positions, while both the directors of school education in Jammu and Kashmir were asked to organize training modules for teachers and upgrade facilities, particularly in girls’ hostels.

This shift aims to align the academic session with regional needs, and the minister reiterated her commitment to ensuring better educational infrastructure and staff resources for the coming years.
