Srinagar, Oct 26: Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani asserted on Saturday that Jammu and Kashmir’s governance structure is unique and cannot function under dual control, where the Chief Minister focuses on specific areas while the Lieutenant Governor manages security.
“J&K is not like other states. We have made commitments to the people, and we will fulfill them,” Wani emphasized, calling for the restoration of statehood. He encouraged citizens to be patient and to trust the government they have elected, promising that their concerns would be addressed.
Wani highlighted that the government was formed just a week ago and noted that meetings between the Chief Minister and central ministers, including the Home Minister and Defence Minister, were aimed at resolving the issues faced by ordinary citizens. He assured that these discussions would garner support for Jammu and Kashmir’s development.
Addressing concerns regarding the Darbar move, Wani pointed out that former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had already issued an order for its restoration, indicating that protests were unnecessary. He affirmed that the National Conference, which was mandated by the people, is committed to addressing the common issues of the region, especially given that Jammu and Kashmir has lacked elected representation for the past decade.
